The hydrovents are very toxic for most organisms.  Only a few organisms can survive in such conditions. This ecosystem is an example of an extremophile ecosystem. Extremophiles are highly adapted organisms which have evolved to withstand the extreme sulfuric environment found around the ocean vents.
