The river otter is found in other habits besides rivers, such as ocean side estuaries. They are the top of the food chain in their habitat. They eat fish, especially those that are found moving slowly and many in numbers. They will eat crabs, large insects, etc.

The bottom of this food chain is based on plants and agae which are eaten by fish, etc. The smaller fish are eaten by larger fish.
