Is there a specific way to write a population's carrying capacity? Is it just like "50 squirrels" or do you have to be more specific?

Usually there is a graph for carrying capacity. One side of the graph shows population and the other shows time. Carrying capacity corralated to the amount of resources avalible.  There is generally an overshoot of the carrying capacity and then part of the poulation dies off because of lack of resources bringing the population back under the capacity. Here is an an example:
