Phenotype is the physical appearance of an individual for a particular characteristic, and genotype is the individual's genetic make-up.
So, for example, in humans, blue eyes are recessive to all other eye colors. So, for eye color, "blue" is one phenotype and "non-blue" is a second phenotype. Other phenotypes in humans are things like "attached ear lobes" or "tongue roller" and so on. Phenotypes describe some physical appearance.
Genotypes use letters or symbols to represent the genetic make-up of an individual. So, if B and b represent the two alleles for eye color, a person with blue eyes has the genotype bb, while someone who has another eye color would have a genotype of either BB or Bb.
