If you are talking about major arteries I would start of course with the heart.  Here is a graphic that may help.  The heart pumps blood to the the lungs through the pulmonary trunk where the blood is oxygenated. Blood then returns to the heart and is pumped to the rest of the body starting from the aorta.  All other major arteries branch from the aorta.
