Primary consumers are usually herbivores, feeding on plants and fungus.

then there are secondary consumers that eats the primary consumers eg.birds (carnivores)

then the tertiary consumer or 'top predator' eats the secondary consumer eg.fox (carnivores)

this food chain could not sustain another predator as there would simply not be enough enery left to sustain them.
